Today (Nov 2)the souls our loved ones who have passed return to visit us while we welcome them with Ofrendas. Just like at any party, you welcome guest with food and drinks. We also place their photo and their favorite items like a deck of cards or knitting 🧶 kit. Waiting for their return with current living family is an opportunity to share memories and celebrate the life they lived so they are never forgotten. 💀

¡Feliz día de los muertos!
Here is how I make my sugar skulls!

Recipe makes 2 large sugar skulls
- mix 5 cups granulated sugar and 5 tsp meringue powder
- then add 1/8 cup warm water, mix thoroughly
- squeeze test: goal is for sugar to keep it’s shape (slowly add more warm water if needed)
- TIGHTLY pack mixture into calavera molds @mexican_sugar_skull
- with cardboard, flatten mixture and remove excess
- turnover cardboard and gently release mold
- repeat to complete pair
- LET SIT FOR 4-5 HOURS
- with spoon, hallow out center of both skulls
- LET SIT FOR ANOTHER 4-5 HOURS or until mixture hardens
- with prepared royal icing, outline internal edges of a skull and attach to opposite pair, hold until set

now you’re ready to decorate! 💀🧡

Today we celebrate the little angels (Nov. 1st). We call babies, toddlers and children Angelitos👼🏻 from the belief that children are innocent and they go to heaven to become angels. The names of the Angelitos👼🏻 is placed on the sugar skull 💀 and then added to the ofrenda.
